BF4 Settings Editor 1.1 released!
Posted on by tehfusion
We have now released version 1.1 of our BF4 Settings Editor. We have quite a few new features in this version, including the ability to set multiple key bindings for each control, as well as special game fixes/workarounds for several Battlefield 4 key binding bugs. Be sure to update to the latest version!
Here is the full list of changes for this version.
Features:
- You can now view and configure multiple key bindings for each control. For example, you could set the Z, K, and P keys all to the “Jump” action. Please note that this only works for buttons, not axis controls; this is due to a limitation in Battlefield 4.
- Added a donation button to the About window.
- Added a Fixes section, where you can read about the included fixes and workarounds for various Battlefield 4 problems.
- Added a toggleable game fix for freelook, which removes the need for using the Freelook (Hold) button.
- Added a game fix for the Freelook (Hold) control, which is normally hard-coded (locked) to a specific joystick key (the left trigger for Xbox 360 controllers) in Battlefield 4. This game bug has caused many players to have problems with their throttle down control.
- Added game fixes for the following controls, which are bugged/broken in the Battlefield 4 in-game menu:
- Select gadget 1.
- Toggle gadget 1.
- Spectator free camera rotate up.
- Spectator free camera rotate down.
- Spectator free camera rotate right.
- Spectator free camera rotate left.
Fixes:
- Fixed an issue where the default key bindings would not be completely overwritten when there were multiple key bindings by default.
- Fixed an issue with the invert vertical tank look setting.
- Fixed a text mistake on the Help tab.
- Removed the Gunner key bindings, as they are sadly no longer working in the current version of Battlefield 4. Gunner positions use the key bindings from the Vehicles tab.
Improvements:
- Improved the look and feel of the GUI.
- A message box is now displayed when loading a profile.
- Renamed the “Toggle weapon light” key binding to “Toggle weapon accessory”, to indicate that it can also be used to toggle magnifiers, canted iron sights, etc.
You can download version 1.1 from our downloads page. Please try it out and give us your feedback. We’ll continue to support this program with updates, along with our other tools. Please report any bugs that you find to us, and we’ll do our best to fix them quickly.
Thanks, and enjoy!

I LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for the awesome tool!
Thanks!
I am experiencing some bad FPS drop that causes extreme lag so the game in unplayable.can some1 help me what should I do? I already tried setting priority to low but it didnr helped me very much!
It might help if you lower your graphics settings, and turn off all DirectX 11 settings in the Console page of BF4 Settings Editor, including DX Deferred CS Path.
I’ve been tweaking my game with your tools since the launch and finally could solve my problem by reducing “motion ablur amount” to 0 !!!
We’re glad to hear you’ve managed to fix the problem you were having!
well not exactly, first it was solved just for a 5 minute of gameplay. but then it all started again, with some digging I managed to change my windows to 8.1 and I’m happy to say that my problem is gone forever. Win8 is a true mess but BF4 worth it.
Thanks.
it wont let change console commands it say the user.cfg could not be open for some reason because of this the console commands have been disable you can still freely change all game settings plzzz help me
Please ensure your user.cfg file in your Battlefield 4 installation folder is not read-only, and try running BF4 Settings Editor as an administrator. If you still receive this error, please paste %localappdata%\Realmware\BF4 Settings Editor\1.1.0.0 into the Windows Explorer address bar, and email the Error Log.txt file to us at battlefield@realmware.co.uk.
Same here dudes : I LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for the awesome tool!
Thank you!
I think theres a bug: when you assign (R) to the x360 controller when on foot you can reload but you can not pickup a different gun from a dead soldier same for mines anything that requires R. Also the knife (F) seems to be broken for the counter knife on the x360 pad as well. Current bugs i found.
Thanks for reporting these Battlefield 4 bugs. We’ll look into them and see what we can do!
Sweet! Amazing what you guys are doing for the community instead of DICE. keep up the great work!
Can someone please point out what’s wrong with the key-bindings here? I randomly start free looking with the right stick on the Xbox 360 controller, while in cockpit view. I even did the fix for the Joystick. =/

You may have misunderstood the freelook hold fix – its purpose is to allow you to enter freelook simply by pressing the freelook direction buttons or using the freelook axes, without needing to press the Freelook (Hold) key. As you can see in your screenshot, the Freelook (Hold) key is bound to Axis 1 X and Axis 1 Y, the same as your Yaw and Pitch controls. If you remove the freelook hold fix, or manually clear the Freelook (Hold) key bindings, you will no longer enter freelook when using your right stick.
Great Tool! Thank You It Help me allot!!!
Thank you, we’re glad it helped!
Thanks for the update.
You have solved 2 probs I was having.
1) Zoom bound to left trigger on xb360 pad
2) Free look activated when in jet and pressing left trigger.
Brilliant work and amazing tool.
Thanks for doing this for the community.
We’re glad it’s helped you! π
you don’t reply! π i wrote thanks for just bee polite
hi keybindings infantry control nameplates empty. Only couple control nameplates exist. Therefore i cant know which bind what is name. thanks for helps
We’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble using BF4 Settings Editor. Please can you send us a screenshot of the problem, and let us know the Windows system locale that you’re using (e.g. the language Windows is in). You can email us at battlefield@realmware.co.uk. Thanks.
Great work!
Please Please fix the fight control lock when free looking. You will save thousands of life if you can do it!
Thank you for the suggestion! We’ll be sure to look into it, although it’s quite likely that it cannot be changed through the settings files.
good work, though i think i noticed a couple of possible bugs. at this point, i’m not entirely sure if it is this program, or the game.
-i have my heli/jet yaw controls bound to mouse horizontal movement. however upon clicking the save button in the editor, i lose the ability to yaw left. what’s more strange, is that A automatically gets assigned to yaw left. in fact, i don’t even have the ability to fix this ingame. the only way to bring back yaw left is to restore profile.
-i have gadget 1 set to scroll up, and gadget 2 set to scroll down. upon clicking save, i lose the binding on gadget 1 (scroll up). fortunately, i can fix this in game.
anyways, keep up the good work!
Hi, indeed very nice tool been using it since BF3.
I noticed the exact same bugs moriz stated including the mouse scroll/gadgets one.
Was able to fix the Jet Yaw problem by editing my BF4 PROVSAVE_Profile with Notepad++ and changing the following values:
GstKeyBinding.jet.ConceptYaw.1.negate 1
GstKeyBinding.jet.ConceptYaw.3.axis 24
Just like they were in my BF3 settings.
Keep up the good
Thanks for letting us know!
Would you mind sending us your PROFSAVE_profile settings file from your My Documents\Battlefield 4\settings folder, preferably twice β once while the bugs are present, and then again after you have fixed them?
You can send them to us at battlefield@realmware.co.uk.
Thank you!
well, it didn’t work for me at all, so there’s really no point.
what’s funny, is that i even lose the ability to set it ingame.
unfortunately this didn’t fix it. i still do not have a working yaw left bound to horizontal mouse movement.
Thank you for reporting these bugs! Unfortunately we’ve been unable to reproduce them, although others have also reported them.
Would you mind sending us your PROFSAVE_profile settings file from your My Documents\Battlefield 4\settings folder, preferably twice – once while the bugs are present, and then again after you have fixed them?
You can send them to us at battlefield@realmware.co.uk.
Thank you!
Is there a way to change the toggle accessory to two inputs: Up / Down selection like inventory on the mouse wheel?
This would help solve some of the ranging issues recons might be having. (faster/more intuitive ranging).
Thank you for the suggestion. At present we’re not aware of a way to achieve this behaviour, but we’ll keep it in mind!
if you guys could somehow manage a way to completely disable the console from being accessed it would be great…thanks (insert lumberg voice)
to make a long story short…i use an 82 key keyboard and it has the tilde right next to the spacebar. bad spot and it gets hit all the frikkin time!
thanks for the efforts, boys
We don’t know of any way to disable the key at the moment, but we’ll be sure to look into this!
Tool breaks the MAV keyboard controls.
Fly left/right works as aim left/right
Aim left/right does not work
Move forward moves the mav forward and to the right
Move backwards moves the mav back and to the right.
Thanks for letting us know! We’re currently investigating the MAV key bindings, and hope to resolve this issue soon.
Bug report:
Major Bug – Cant accept Medic Resurrect after use of the program.
Bug Keybinds -> Infantry, Vehicle, Jet, Helicopter
Select Primary Weapon
(Mouse Wheel Up)
Select Secondary Weapon
(Mouse Wheel Down)
I have them bound to my Mouse Wheel, However after using the tool and saving the settings. I have to manual rebind my Mouse Wheel Up back to Select Primary Weapon.
Mouse Wheel = Axis 2 Y, for both MW-UP & MW-DOWN Could be the problem.
MAV Controls are all messed up, when i fly the movement controls now turns left and flys left at the same time and right side the same. Vehicle aim relative controls are disabled.
Thanks for your bug report!
Have you double-checked the “Accept revive” key binding under the Infantry tab? By default it’s set to the left mouse button, not the spacebar key as the game GUI shows.
We’ve had similar reports for the mouse wheel not binding in the upwards direction, but are unable to identify the cause. Would you be able to send us your PROFSAVE_profile settings file while the “Select primary weapon” control is broken, as well as after you have fixed it manually? You can find the settings file in your My Documents\Battlefield 4\settings folder. Our email address is battlefield@realmware.co.uk.
We’re looking into the MAV key bindings, and hope to resolve the issue with them soon.
Thanks again, and we’re sorry for the problems!
Just reiterating some of the bugs I’ve ran into that others have…
Mouse left as Yaw – the tool breaks this, have to set this in game. When I use the tool to try to bind Mouse x-axis to Yaw left doesn’t work.
Mouse Wheel – when using the tool, trying to bind things to wheel up or wheel down causes both of those commands to trigger on either wheel up or down.
MAV – I’m seeing what XGAH is, MAV binds translate to weird controls in game. Of the three issues this is the only one I can’t correct in-game.
Thanks for reporting these issues to us, and we’re sorry for the problems they’ve caused!
Would you mind sending us your PROFSAVE_profile settings file, after applying the mouse yaw key binding in BF4 Settings Editor? If possible, it would also be helpful if you could bind the mouse wheel at the same time, so we can investigate the mouse wheel bug.
You can find the settings file in your My Documents\Battlefield 4\settings folder, and you can email us at battlefield@realmware.co.uk.
Thank you!
Hey guys
Simple fix for Mav problem (really annoying) – just open Provsave_profile in BF4 settings ane remove ALL lines with .mav. (whole mav section)
It uses default mav controls afterwards.
Good day! π
This program fixed the helicopter free look bug, but now when I push right on my right joystick (should roll my helicopter right) it rolls my helicopter to the left? Same thing is true when I push the stick to the left, I roll right!? Why did it reverse my roll?? I don’t want that and it has made flying even worse than when the brakes didn’t work!
Nevermind. Closed the game then reopened it and it’s working now. O.o
worldrender.dxdeferredcspathenable is one of the options in the BF4 settings editor. But, this command doesnt exist in BF4. There is no console command.
Also, you should add some settings that I have found make a big difference.
worldrender.planarreflectionenable (1/0)
Enables/disables reflections of buildings and geography in water.
worldrender.spotlightshadowmapenable (1/0)
Enables/disables multiple dynamic shadows per light source.
renderdevice.forcerenderaheadlimit (0/1/2/3)
Forces pre-rendering of frames to the value specified.
Setting these to “0” gave me 15 more fps, with no noticeable loss in eye candy. I just added them to the user.cfg created by the editor, but adding a toggle with explanation for the less technologically inclined would be nice.
Since the patch on 14 Nov my joystick wont work at all its a “saitek x52 pro” it was working fine before the patch any ideas.
I can confirm and provide a Youtube and my working and non-working PROFSAVE_Profile files for the MAV issue.
Anyone that needs to fix its, manually edit this file in your documents\bf4 folder and remove all lies with .MAV. in it… quite a few but will fix it. BACKUP FILE FIRST.
Worked for me … also .. these settings seem to be INTRODUCED by settings editor, my game works fine and mav works fine now with default keys, however the settings HAVE NOT returned – but if I use BF4 settings editor, the mav commands resave in that profile file and in-game MAV operates strangely again.
hello
i cant bind my trustmaster hotas x joystick(cant with your tool cant in game), no axis or buttons.
i think the problem is windows 8.1 and bf4 + joystick input
comunication problem?
i use windows 8.1 x64, the last framework, the last joystick driver
Regarding the Mouse-left as Yaw bug:
It was broken by the version 1.1
I went back to version 1.0 and now it works fine. I can fly again π
Breaks controls to MAV as soon as you touch Jet controls.
Also seems to override some of my existing settings by default without me actually touching them in BF4 Settings editor, just a minor nuisance.
Sorry, I posted this comment by accident under the Borderless Tool Comments section!
After one of the recent BF4 patches Iβm no longer able to change Throttle Down for the jet. The default is βSβ and despite changing it to βDβ using the BF4 Settings Editor, the βDβ key does absolutely nothing after I launch the game. If I press the βSβ key it does throttle down in addition to Yaw Left which is what I have βSβ set to.
Thanks,
Brian
Sometime in the past few days, both BF4 editor and BF4 Borderless stopped working; can’t even open the app.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, but no go. It is not flagged by Norton AV or firewall.
Any ideas?
My mouse wheel is set: up->primary weapon, down->reload. This setting is not usable after I used your editor v1.1. I always have to set it again in the bf4 options. Please fix.
Sorry all versions fails on W7 64bit for me.
I have .Net 4.5
Turned off AV while installing
Ran as administrator (I am admin anyway)
Tried compatibility mode xp/vista
Uninstalling and trying an older version

Just submitting some bugs:
When I bind “equip secondary weapon” to scroll wheel down, the binding does not work in game, and has to be rebound with the in-game menu.
Also, using the X52 joystick, the settings editor confuses buttons. binding a button to function will make something like “button 22” appear next to the function, but the bind won’t work and when rebound using the in-game menu, the button will show up under a different name (maybe “button 9” or something similar)
This program broke my BF4, I can not input any commands from joystick anymore. Windows recognizes they joystick, but game and BF4 configurator won’t do anything when I press fire.
That’s likely to be your Joystick software. In my case the Logitech 3D Pro software (which is sooooo clunky) won’t enable my BF4 profile unless I change it to “Apply persistent profile” in the Global Profile Settings. Also, hardware ID selection is very hit and miss in Windows gaming controller settings. If I have my Xbox 360 controller plugged in I can properly get the flightstick to work with games and vice versa.
Whenever I go to export settings to BF3 BF4 Editor “stops working”. How do I track down what’s causing this? Haven’t played BF3 in forever and I like my new BF4 settings so really want to fix this. Thanks.
P.S. My error log doesn’t seem to help either.
“BF4 Settings Editor.exe Information: 0 : Battlefield 4 installation directory detected as “E:\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\”.

BTW I do have BF3 mlinked to another drive but that’s never been a problem for me. Thanks again.
The “Locked Key” fix no longer works, at least not for the “Backspace” key. That key will be bound to the battlelog no matter how you change the bindings.
I assume the latest update killed that feature.
I am having trouble with my right bumper (button 6) on the xbox controller on BF4. I have read about some commands being “hard-coded” in bindings. I use my right bumper to “fire” but after holding it for 2 seconds my command rose comes up and i am unable to do anything until I release my fire. This has killed me, literally, since I been playing especially in dog fights. Do you know how to fix it? has it been fixed? Or is it even fixable? Thanks
I just installed your program to fix the issue with my Logitech 3D pro, but now I can’t open BF4 anymore… It simply crash with no error message (exept windows that try to find a solution and ask to close program)
Iβm sorry to hear youβre having trouble with BF4 Settings Editor.
The issue you describe is most likely caused by the latest Battlefield 4 patch. Unfortunately, due to a bug in the patch, the game will crash when the UI.DrawEnable console command is specified in the user.cfg file. BF4 Settings Editor places this console command in the user.cfg file as part of your chosen settings.
In order to resolve the crashes youβre getting, please navigate to your Battlefield 4 installation directory (commonly C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and open the user.cfg file in Notepad or a similar text editor. Find the line containing UI.DrawEnable and delete it. Save the file and try launching the game again. You will need to do this every time after you save your changes in BF4 Settings Editor, so we recommend doing it after youβve set everything up.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
Im realy mad, Now, I uninstalled both (your program and battlefield4, I was unable to do anything with battlefield any more !
(Now, I need an other 6 hour to re-download and re-instal the game).
Thanks a lot for creating more problem that you can fix !
Wow, guys… You make so professional, I write a message because I got a problem with your program, and you delete my post other then trying to correct the problem?
What a bunch of noob you made !
We never deleted any of your comments β they just needed to be manually approved before showing here. Please see my reply to your other comment for the solution to the problem that you’re getting.
