BF4 Settings Editor 1.0 released!
Posted on by tehfusion
We have now released version 1.0 of our BF4 Settings Editor. This is no longer a preview release, and the program has been updated to function with the full release of Battlefield 4 instead of the Battlefield 4 Beta. Be sure to update to the latest version!
Here is the full list of changes for this version.
Features:
- Updated to work with the full release of Battlefield 4.
- BF4 Settings Editor will now offer the user the option of automatically copying their settings over from the Battlefield 4 Beta.
- The program window is now resizable. The last used window size will be saved and remembered for the next time the program opens.
- You can now export your Battlefield 4 settings back to the older Battlefield 3.
- When importing/exporting settings from/to Battlefield 3, the Battlefield 3 settings files will now be scanned for errors. The user can decide whether to have these files automatically repaired.
- Added support for the following settings:
- Award messages.
- Game mode messages.
- Added support for the following key bindings:
- All spectator key bindings.
- All vehicle aim relative key bindings.
- Toggle minimap.
- Menu.
- Menu / Scoreboard (hold).
Fixes:
- Updated the default settings to match those of the full release of Battlefield 4. The default settings have been changed since the Battlefield 4 Beta.
- Removed the “Off” option for the texture filtering setting, as this has been removed in the full release of Battlefield 4.
- Fixed an issue with the joystick sensitivity setting, where it would be using a range of 0-1 instead of the expected 0-5.
- Fixed a bug where dragging certain sliders to zero would cause them to become disabled.
Improvements:
- Improved the look and feel of the GUI.
- Moved the scoreboard, full map, and zoom minimap key bindings from the Common tab to the Infantry, Vehicle, Jet, Helicopter, Gunner, and MAV tabs. This matches the in-game menu and the way the controls work in the full release.
You can download version 1.0 from our downloads page. Please try it out and give us your feedback. We’ll continue to support this program with updates, along with our other tools. Please report any bugs that you find to us, and we’ll do our best to fix them quickly.
We have been working hard on some other great features, such as the ability to easily share configurations with others online via a special code, as well as the ability to set multiple key bindings for the same control. These features are very near to completion, but unfortunately they weren’t ready in time for the release of Battlefield 4. Stay tuned and expect another update to BF4 Settings Editor soon!
Thanks, and enjoy!

Will you guys make a BF4 standalone?
We have an as-yet unreleased update to Battlelog Standalone, so we’ll try to find time to finish it and release it soon, depending on demand. 🙂
It would be amazing if a standalone Battlelog was released.
Im sure there would be great demand for it, as people often wonder what is the best browser to use.
This is awesome!
I was having a crash issue with both the BF4 beta and the final release when trying to enable Nvidia Surround. As soon as I loaded up this settings editor it found a corrupt line in my settings file and removed it. Immediately fixed my problems.
Beyond that, this is a really well made piece of software. The profile functionality is awesome for switching between Surround and standard resolutions.
Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words, we’re glad it’s helped you get the game working properly again! 🙂
Thanks a lot guys, now just a small thing – owning the game 🙂
Tomorrow maybe.
You’re welcome! 🙂
Does your program let me tweak foliage ammount or any texture tweak in memory size ?
Im annoyed by grass poping up on my screan when i run .!!!
BF4 Settings Editor doesn’t provide anything more than the game itself does in this respect. What you should probably look at is ensuring you have the mesh quality and terrain decoration graphics settings set to Ultra. Mesh quality affects the geometric detail level and draw distance of objects, and terrain decoration determines the amount of visual decoration such as grass and plants.
Thanks for doing this to the community. =D
Thanks for the support! 🙂
We need a new update please, they just updated the game!
We have an update to BF4 Settings Editor planned, and which should be released soon, although the current version continues to work with the latest version of Battlefield 4.
This tool has been awesome ever since BF3. When I was able to rebind everything for the mav, something you could not do in the game. Now I found another binding that you can not change in the game that would be awesome if you can add it. The Jet ski, when you are on it, the custom binds do not work to change seats, only the default ones F1 and F2. Also When you hop into seat 4 on the attack boats, which seems to be the same thing, Once you are there, only the F-keys works to change back to seats 1 2 3, then your custom binds work again. Thanks for a great tool.
Thank you for the kind words! We’ll look into the key bindings issues with the jet ski and attack boat, and see what we can do!
Thank you for making this and the bf3 windowed no border program. The bf3 windowed no border centered the game on my screen but with this I cannot find a way to center the borderless window on my screen is there a way to make this happen?
BF4 Settings Editor does not provide a way to centre the borderless Battlefield 4 window on your screen, as there are no settings in the settings files to accomplish this. There are console commands (Window.PosX, Window.PosY, Window.Width, Window.Height) that can be entered into the user.cfg file, but unfortunately they seem to have no effect. We are considering releasing a BF4 Borderless tool to help with this. Thanks. 🙂
The same problem with borderless, as it was present in BF3, exists also in BF4. In BF3 your app saved the day. It would be very appreciated if you could make “BF4 Borderless”. Thank you very much for all your hard and excellent work!
To my comment about BF4 Borderless I would like to add a small thing I always wanted to tell you. I have been using all of your tools from the beginning. There is no question about it that the tools are super useful. But what have impressed me the most is your attention to detail and the aesthetics of your tools. That’s is totally a sign of being a pro! Thank you again!
Excellent tool again.
Worked for the most part after importing my BF3 keybindings which id heavily customized with your previous tool.
Few little bugs like for some reason in BF4 pressing B on the keyboard brings up the console menu for some reason ?
Thank you! We’re happy to hear the Battlefield 3 settings import worked for you. Unfortunately, the ‘B’ key is currently hard-coded to bring up the console in Battlefield 4, and is not something caused by BF4 Settings Editor. Hopefully DICE will release an update to the game to resolve the various outstanding issues.
Hey guys! A huge thank you for this! I have been using this since it came out for BF3 and I swear by it.
A couple requests for a future version:
1. I REALLY need the ability to move the minimap closer to the center of the screen. I sit about 4 feet from a 55″ hdtv and it sucks without that tweak.
If Anyone knows how to fix that in the meantime I would be your bestest friend!!!
2. In BF3 and now Bf4, throttle down on the Jets refuses to work. I though it was a rebind problem, but it refuses to slow down even using S. 🙁
3. A fix to rebind gadget 1… having a problem rebinding gadget 1 to a new key. It only works for some kits and vehicles.
Problem #3 might have something to do with me using a Razer Nostromo… but #2 never worked from Day 1 of Bf3.
Anyway <3 <3 <3
Thanks for the kind words, we’re glad you appreciate our efforts! 🙂 As to your requests:
1) We’ll have a look into this and see if there’s anything we can do.
2) We’re not quite sure what’s causing this. We recommend installing version 1.1 of BF4 Settings Editor and checking for any jet key bindings using your throttle keys, in particular the “Freelook (Hold)” control. Unbind anything using your throttle keys except the jet’s “Throttle down” control.
3) Version 1.1 of BF4 Settings Editor includes a fix for this problem – please try rebinding the “Select gadget 1” or “Toggle gadget 1” control to the desired key.
Good luck!
Oh and one More – I have rebound the spot function to a Mouse’s thumb button. It works great for spotting, but when I hold it down the commo rose only flashes once. I cannot use the in-game voice-overs with the rebound button. Seems DICE doesnt like when you change binds from defaults 🙁
Seeing as how you guys provide more fixes for the BF series than DICE and EA ever did, i figured I would mention it lol 🙂
We’ll be sure to look into this issue too. 🙂
I’m also having this problem
Yes please include tools to move the minimap or make it bigger.
The hud scaling does not work in surround, no matter what the slider is set to it stays the same size which is tiny. I need aproper size minimap like BF3!
We’ll be looking into this for the next version of BF4 Settings Editor. 🙂
Hey all I figured out how to adjust the Minimap.
Go to your My Documents Folder, Battlefield 4 Folder, Settings Folder and open up the file called “PROFSAVE_profile using Word Pad.
About 40 some lines down you will see the following two lines:
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaHeight 1.000000
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 1.000000
The first one changes the Height from the bottom. The second one changes the distance from the left.
I changed mine to the following and it was perfect:
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaHeight 1.000000
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.750000
Hope this helps you all out!

Hi guys and like everyone else has said, thanks for this awesome tool.
Please can you look into a fix for the joystick bug where when the throttle on joystick is <50%, you have no control?
see below for a fix I am using, but now I have no brake control in the air.

Also, could you make it possible to bind "brake" and "Hover" to a button as you did in BF3?
Thanks again!
