BF3 Settings Editor 2.1 released!
Posted on by tehfusion
It’s only been a couple of days, but we are now releasing version 2.1 of our BF3 Settings Editor! This release does not contain big feature changes like the previous version, but it does include some important bug fixes and enhancements; we recommend that everybody updates to 2.1.
Here is the full list of changes for this version.
Features:
- Added an option for asking whether to save changes on exit.
Fixes:
- Fixed the handling of joystick controls for axes that aren’t self-centering.
- Fixed binding forward and backward controls for vehicles.
Improvements:
- When binding mouse or joystick axes, the axis direction is now taken into account.
- When binding the mouse scroll wheel, a message is shown explaining that it doesn’t work in BF3.
- Improved the behaviour when attempting to bind a control while already holding Escape.
- Improved the method used to create a settings backup on the first run.
- A message is now shown if the settings backup could not be created.
- The BF3 Settings Editor options are now kept after upgrading to a new version.
- The “Save on exit” option now defaults to false. Instead, the program will by default ask the user whether to save any changes.
You can download version 2.1 from our downloads page. Please try it out and give us your feedback. We’ll continue to support this program with updates, along with our other tools. Please report any bugs that you find to us, and we’ll do our best to fix them quickly.
Thanks, and enjoy!

MAV controls don´t seem to work for me. Tried remapping them to my gamepad but it has no effect ingame -.-
This is strange; we’ve tested it and it works fine for us. I’ve just checked again and I was able to successfully remap the flying, movement, strafing, and aiming controls with a gamepad.
Are you sure you’re saving the settings properly? After modifying your controls in our BF3 Settings Editor, be sure to either click the highlighted “Save Settings” button in the status bar, or exit the program and ask it to save the changes.
If you are saving your changes properly, then could you please provide us with some additional details? Which MAV controls were you trying to change? Are you able to change other (non-MAV) controls?
If you can send us your Battlefield 3 settings file, then we can investigate further. You can find this file in the Documents/Battlefield 3/settings directory, and it is named PROF_SAVE_profile. If you have time, please email it to: bf3@realmware.co.uk
Thanks!
You´ve got mail.
should the fullscreen refresh rate be set to the monitor refresh rate(60)?I just noticed it was defaulted to 10
You should make sure that you set it to a valid refresh rate supported by your monitor. Ideally, you would normally set it to the highest refresh rate that your monitor is capable of.
The default refresh rate should be 60 Hz. However, the R2 client patch did modify the setting, which caused a bug in our BF3 Settings Editor. This was resolved in version 2.2, so if you’re having problems, I suggest you try the latest version. 🙂
